A Narrative of a Little Street in China

Street of Eternal Happiness is one of those books you will want to read again.
A tale of 21st century China, Street of Eternal Happiness profiles China’s distinct generations through multifaceted characters who illuminate an enlightening, humorous, and at times heartrending journey along the winding road to the Chinese Dream. Each story adds another layer of humanity and texture to modern China, a tapestry also woven with Schmitz’s insight as a foreign correspondent. The result is an intimate and surprising portrait that dispenses with the tired stereotypes of a country we think we know, immersing us instead in the vivid stories of the people who make up one of the world’s most captivating cities writes the Publisher.

When I received this book from the publisher to do a review for my blog I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I am so glad I took a chance and read it. I was able to keep up with the different characters in the book by the way the author told their individual stories. . I liked how Schmitz kept you interested by interweaving the lives of the characters from their past to their present. I also liked how the author was able to tell this story from interacting with these different families. He did not just go to their houses to get a story but became their friend and confidant. Street of Eternal Happiness is one of those books you will want to read again.

I received this book to review and was not compensated in anyway.
