Triumph in the Midst of Chaos

"A heartwarming coming-of-age story, All But Normal is a powerful reminder that sometimes the “broken” people in our lives are the ones who need fixing the least," says Kirkus Reviews.

This is one of those books that grabs your attention from the first page. It is a exultant story of overcoming ones difficulties and realizing God's plan in the midst of everything.

Shawn Thornton grew up in a Christian but flawed household. Shawn's mother, "Bev" Thornton, was a bright and intelligent teenager who was in a terrible car accident caused by Shawn's father. This left her with a traumatic brain injury. Doctor's at the time did not understand this sort of injury. Medicine just assumed that people with traumatic brain injuries would just get better or were mentally handicapped. Shawn's mother would be fine one minute and then throwing, yelling or basically making everyone in the household miserable. In the midst of this Bev loved the Lord and was a blessing to other handicapped or less desirables in society. Through all of this turmoil at home Shawn and his brother found God had a purpose for all the tragedies in their lives.

I received this book for review and was not monetarily compensated by the publisher.
