Basking in the sun

This little kitten of ours reminded me today of how we take little things for granted. She found a little ray of sunshine, played a little while, and then decided to take a warm nap. Oh, if only we could be so content in our lives.

Thanksgiving

I just wanted to thank the Lord. He has been so good to us this year. We have went through a lot of trials and tribulation this year but looking back we can see His hand in everything. Our biggest blessing came this week. With all my medical bills and daily medications David and I did not know how we were going to have Christmas this year. I know that Christmas is not all about gifts and what you can get but I do think God wants us to enjoy the birth of His Son. David had been trying to get a second job but nothing seemed to be working out. I really felt like the boys and Maggie needed their dad at home as much as possible. I told the Lord if David did not get a second job that it was fine and we would do something else for Christmas. On Monday David's president of the company called him into his office. David said he thought he was going to be laid off. This company lays off a lot of people this time of year. Instead God provided us our Christmas money. I am not posting this too brag. God is good. Even when we least expect it God comes through. I give Him all the glory and praise. I want to thank the Lord also for my health, my wonderful husband, and four beautiful children. God's Mercies are new every morning.

Our New Baby

This is our new baby, Pheobe. This is the greek name for happiness. She has brought a lot of happiness to our home. Pheobe is nine weeks old but looks more like 5-6 weeks. She was the runt of the litter. As you can tell she is almost small enough to fit in Jacob's shirt pocket. Pheobe is going to be our great mouse hunter if the mice do not get to her first. Ha Ha. The story behind her is really cute. I have been looking for about 2 months, off and on,for a kitten but no one seemed to have one. Yesterday I had David call an old ad and the lady had five kittens. David told the lady we would like a calico female. She said she would save it for us. When we arrived at her house the lady said her girls wanted to keep her. Maggie looked at the oldest girl and said "May I pwease have this kitten." The girl looked at Maggie and said no for her to pick another. Maggie looked at her with her big brown eyes and said "But I love this one. Pwease can I have her. The girl took the kitten in the other room and said no. By then I was ready to leave without one. I thought how mean. We were ready to go and the girl said "I really don't need another cat. You can have her. Isn't the Lord good? Maggie has been begging for a long time for a kitten. The Lord listens to the prayers of children.

Our girl dressed in her sunday best

Maggie wanted me to post her picture. She is getting so big. Pretty soon we will not have any little ones left any more. Maggie loves to dress up on Sunday's but the rest of the week forget it. She wants me to teach her how to read. I am thinking about taking the plunge. I am just a little worried because she just turned four. I firmly believe in letting children be children for as long as they can be. I guess I will give it a go. If it doesn't work I can say I tried.

Jacob's birthday present

This is Jacob's birthday present. His name is Nyhmboulous Cade, Nhym for short. I have to tell you the story behind him. Jacob wanted 3 different things for his birthday which were all too expensive. Some of you might know we been having a really hard time this year financially. We just could not afford to get him what Jacob wanted. I finally told him that we just could not afford what he wanted and would he be satisfied with money. Jacob being who he is agreed but I could tell he was not very happy. This was already going to be a sad birthday for him because of family issues on my side of the family. I told the Lord I did not know what to do but that I would really like to get him at least one of the presents he wanted. I happened to look on Craigs list. There was a ferret with everything included for exactly the money we had for a present. I was so excited. The Lord is so good. He even cares about a 14 year old boys littlest wish and yet we can't trust Him for the big things in our lives. I am preaching this to myself. I wish everyone could have seen Jacob's face. He kept rubbing his eyes and looking at me like is this really mine. I told him the Lord takes care of us every time. Jacob has been saying every day this is the best gift I have ever received. This is coming from a boy who can't stand animals. David and I think this is so funny.

Bello

Here is a picture of our cockatiel, bello. He is such a fun bird. Bello wolf whistles, says his name, makes kissing noises, and loves his head scratched. Bello is Brendan's special friend. Brendan carries him everywhere. Bello starts calling first thing in the morning.

Maggie

This is Maggie who just turned 4. Maggie is an answer to her brother Micah's prayers. She is a free spirit. Maggie has a mind of her own. She can definitely hold her own. Maggie is a princess, drama queen, and a tomboy. Maggie is the light of all our lives.

Brendan

This is Brendan who is nine years old. Brendan has been a special gift from the Lord. The Lord has saved Brendan's life two times. He loves drawing, playing with animals, and looking at archeology books. Brendan wants to be a forest ranger when he grows up.

Jacob

This is Jacob who will be 14 in two weeks. He came thirteen months after Micah. Jacob loves drawing, listening to music, reading adventure books and being creative. We call Jacob the "Pied Piper". Everywhere Jacob is there is a line of children.

Micah

This is Micah who is 15 yrs old. Micah is the one who made me a mother. He loves music, books, and of course lots of games. Micah is waiting for the Lord to send him a special girl.

Welcome to my blog!

Hello, my name is Bonnie Enke and this is my blog. I am the mom of four, three boys and a little girl. My children are Micah age 15, Jacob age 14, Brendan age 9 and Maggie age 4. I have been married 16 years to my sweetheart David. We live in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We have lived here for about 25 years. I homeschool my three oldest, which is a challenge sometimes, but I love my children dearly. We live in a fairly nice home on the out skirts of the city with four dogs, two standard poodles, one toy poodle and a poodle/dachaund mix, two birds and two aquariums. We love animals.
